INdie Film Director, John Sayles, to Headline the 2017 Rendezvous Film Festival
Amelia Island hosts the director of the movie Sunshine State

Amelia Island, FL, August 28, 2017– Independent Film Director, John Sayles, will headline this year’s local film festival taking place September 21-23.  Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Rendezvous Film Festival, taking place on Amelia Island is excited to feature the movie, Sunshine State (filmed in part on the island), as well as host a panel discussion with the director. Also featured as a workshop instructor is NPR’s Melissa Ross.

The festival will also feature the film O Amelia!, a documentary that explores the local music scene here on the island. Produced and directed by newcomers Chuck Oliva and Patty Smith, the film features Amy and Dillon Basse, Tom Leon, Dan Voll and Shel, Les DeMerle and Bonnie Eisele, and Triple Shot, and many other local favorites - as well The Rose Quartet from the Fernandina Beach High School Band. The film and concert also featured recent FBHS graduates Alternative Winter in a scene-stealing breakout performance. “O Amelia!” ends with footage from the sold out Community Concert held on the main stage at the Amelia Community Theater last June. The film will premier Saturday, September 23rd at 5:00 at ACT’s Studio 209.

The 3 day festival includes film screenings, panel discussions, workshops, as well as opportunities to socialize with filmmakers and attendees. The festival includes 52 films from 14 countries – including “Black Cat,” a quirky gem about an odd man-child making a documentary funded by his mother about an unsolved murder. “Black Cat” will kick off the festival at 8:15 at Studio 209 on September 21st.
